SCOPE OF THIS LICENSE

The Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International license covers only material
authored by this project:

  - record structure, schemas, and field selection;
  - generated record summaries (`descriptions.kind = 'record_summary'`);
  - grounded QA pairs and instruction-tuning examples built from structured
    fields;
  - RAG chunking and derived text assembled from structured fields;
  - merge log, tooling, tests, and documentation.

UPSTREAM PROSE IS NOT COVERED

This dataset also retains upstream prose: plot synopses, character biographies,
episode summaries, and tag definitions. That text is third-party expression.
It is **excluded from the CC-BY-4.0 grant above** and remains subject to the
terms of the source that published it. Attribution identifies the owner; it is
not permission to redistribute.

Every retained prose row carries its source and redistribution status:

  - `prose_source` — registry id (`anilist`, `kitsu`, `shikimori`, `unknown`)
  - `prose_license` — `permission_required`, `unresolved`, or `allowed`

Per-source ownership, terms and status are in `exports/attribution.json`,
`exports/sources.jsonl`, and the `prose_attribution` block of
`exports/license_manifest.json`. The artifact-by-artifact inventory is in
`LICENSE_AUDIT.md`.

    from the collection environment.

COMMERCIAL USE

Only rows tiered `cc0_only` (969 of 35,766, 2.7%) have no upstream permission
request outstanding. Rows tiered `permission_required` or `unresolved` carry
obligations this project cannot discharge on your behalf. The dataset as a
whole must not be sold or offered commercially without permission from the
named source owners.

NO WARRANTY OF REUSE RIGHTS

No license or permission is asserted for content whose status was not verified.
If any included source content is not lawfully reusable, contact the maintainers
and it will be removed on request.
